LMP: 1 January 2026, 28-day cycle
EDD = 1 January + 280 days = 8 October 2026. First-trimester scan window: late February to early April. Anomaly scan: mid-May to early June. Delivery range: 24 September to 22 October 2026 (37-42 weeks).
Your due date is calculated from the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP) using Naegele's rule - add 280 days. This calculator shows your estimated due date, current week of pregnancy, and the typical conception date.

Naegele's rule is a starting estimate - only ~5% of babies are born on the exact due date. Most arrive between weeks 38-42. An ultrasound between weeks 8-13 gives the most accurate dating, especially if your LMP is uncertain.

The expected due date (EDD) is the single most-important date in pregnancy - every prenatal scan, blood test, fetal-health screening, and delivery plan revolves around it. This calculator computes EDD using Naegele's rule, the worldwide clinical standard developed by Franz Karl Naegele in 1830 and still used by virtually every obstetrician today. The formula is simple: add 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your last menstrual period. The calculator also adjusts for non-standard cycle lengths, giving more accurate dates for women with shorter or longer cycles.
The EDD is exactly that - estimated. Only about 5% of babies arrive on their due date; the normal range of full-term delivery is 38-42 weeks. Most first-time pregnancies tend to extend slightly past EDD; subsequent pregnancies tend to deliver closer to EDD. A first-trimester ultrasound (ideally 8-12 weeks) is more accurate than calendar-based EDD and is the gold-standard correction - once you've had that scan, the ultrasound EDD takes precedence over the calculator's estimate.

Naegele's rule: due date = LMP + 280 days. For non-28-day cycles, the rule is adjusted by (cycleLength − 28) days because ovulation timing shifts. This gives a 40-week pregnancy from LMP, equivalent to 38 weeks from conception.
Due date = LMP + 280 days + (cycle length − 28) days
Naegele's rule adds 280 days to the first day of the last menstrual period. The 280 days break down as: roughly 14 days from LMP to ovulation (in a typical 28-day cycle), plus 266 days from conception to delivery - the actual gestational length. For non-28-day cycles, the calculator adjusts by adding (cycleLength − 28) days, because women with longer cycles ovulate later. A 32-day cycle pushes ovulation to day 18 and EDD to LMP + 284 days; a 26-day cycle moves ovulation to day 12 and EDD to LMP + 278 days.
Beyond Naegele's rule, alternative dating methods include: first-trimester ultrasound by crown-rump length measurement (most accurate, ±3-5 days), second-trimester ultrasound by biparietal diameter (less accurate, ±7-10 days), and IVF-based dating where the embryo transfer date is known precisely. For IVF, EDD = transfer date + 263 days (day-3 transfer) or + 261 days (day-5 transfer). IVF eliminates the LMP and ovulation uncertainty entirely.
Pregnancy timeline mapped against EDD: 12 weeks - end of first trimester, double-marker test; 18-22 weeks - anomaly scan; 24-28 weeks - gestational diabetes screening; 28 weeks - anti-D injection for Rh-negative mothers; 32-34 weeks - growth scan; 37 weeks - full-term begins, delivery planning; 40 weeks - EDD; 41-42 weeks - induction discussion if not delivered. Knowing the EDD lets you book all these milestones at the right time.
EDD = 1 January + 280 days = 8 October 2026. First-trimester scan window: late February to early April. Anomaly scan: mid-May to early June. Delivery range: 24 September to 22 October 2026 (37-42 weeks).
Cycle adjustment: +4 days. EDD = 15 February + 280 + 4 = 25 November 2026. The 4-day adjustment matters for accurate scan timing - going by the standard formula would book your anomaly scan slightly too early.
Only about 5% of babies are born on the exact due date - the calculation is a best estimate. Most births happen between 38 and 42 weeks, with full-term defined as 37-42.
An ultrasound between weeks 8-13 is the most accurate dating method. If your LMP is uncertain, see your gynaecologist for a dating scan.
Yes. For a 32-day cycle, the due date shifts 4 days later because ovulation (and conception) occurs 4 days later than the 28-day reference. Most calculators ignore this - ours adjusts.
Approximately. 280 days is 40 weeks or about 9 months and 7 days, depending on the calendar months covered.
Gestational age counts from LMP (40 weeks total). Fetal age counts from conception (38 weeks total). Indian and Western obstetric care uses gestational age.
No - IVF uses the embryo transfer date directly. Add 261 days for a day-3 transfer or 259 for a day-5 transfer. Speak to your fertility clinic for exact dating.
Body composition, daily energy needs and pregnancy timelines all rest on formulas validated across millions of people, but no single number tells the whole story. The values from this calculator are point estimates with a known margin of error - body fat from skinfold or US Navy method has roughly a ±3% standard error compared to a DEXA scan, and BMR can vary ±10% person to person at the same height and weight. Use these numbers to track trends week over week, not to chase decimal precision day to day.
Pair this tool with the BMR, TDEE, calorie and macro calculators to turn a single measurement into an actionable plan. None of these tools are a substitute for a qualified doctor, registered dietitian or certified strength coach - but they remove the busywork so you spend more time on training and recovery, less on math.
